The fact is that bike theft is easy and treated very leniently by the courts. The Motorcycle Action Group is putting this problem at the top of its priority list. While everyone else talks about defensive measures which require bikers to spend fortunes on anti theft devices and take extraordinary precautions, MAG says: Treat bike theft seriously - lock up bike thieves! All MAG members bikes are covered by a £500 reward scheme. MAG offers rewards of up to £1000 for information leading to the conviction of bike thieves. MAG offers rewards of up to £5000 for information leading to the conviction of bike thieving gangs. MAG Spokesman Ian Mutch: 'When are the courts going to get tough on the REAL criminals? Our police are often directed to crack down on those exceeding speed limits by marginal degrees, bikers are frequently stopped to check number plate dimensions and helmet visor standards. MAG does not condone infringements of the law but we ask our government - when are you going to get tough on REAL criminals?' MAG puts its money where it's mouth is - when will HM Govt. match its anti crime rhetoric with action? MAG says - STEAL A BIKE GO TO JAIL.
